Our Pilot Program
Our Meals to Heal pilot program ran between October 2024 and May 2025 and provided 3500 meals to around 45 community members over a six-month period.
Participants received 6 evening meals a week, plus healthy snacks and these were delivered once a week, throughout West Hants, by our team of community volunteers. Meals were prepared by the trained chefs at the Station Food Hub at Newport Station and had dietitian oversight to ensure that they were suitable for participants’ medical conditions.
We were able to accommodate community members who had the following health conditions, which they were finding difficult to manage.
Diabetes
Heart Disease
Cancer Treatment
Frailty Concerns
We are currently fundraising to relaunch the program in Fall 2025. Once we re-open the program, if you would like to be considered, we will post a referral form for you and your medical practitioner to complete. This form can be completed and signed by any medical professional who has access to your medical information and can confirm your medical conditions (this includes your family physician, nurse practitioner, pharmacist, dietitian, social worker, continuing care co-ordinator etc.)
If you do not have a medical professional, please contact us at info@mealstoheal.ca
