Our new Meals to Heal Program has launched
We are delighted to announce that our new Meals to Heal program is open for applications. Meal deliveries will begin in late January 2026.
Participants will receive up to 6 evening meals a week, plus healthy snacks. Meals will be delivered once a week, throughout West Hants, by our team of community volunteers. Meals are prepared by the trained chefs at the Station Food Hub at Newport Station and have dietitian oversight to ensure that they are suitable for participants’ medical conditions.
We are able to accommodate community members who have the following health conditions, which they are finding difficult to manage or who are experiencing food insecurity:
Diabetes
Heart Disease
Cancer
Frailty
Kidney disease Stages 1 &2
To apply for this program, please read the information sheet and complete the application form (pages 1 and 2). Please ask your medical professional to complete and sign page 3 of the form. This form can be completed by any medical professional who has access to your health information and can confirm your medical conditions (this includes your family physician, nurse practitioner, pharmacist, dietitian, social worker, continuing care coordinator).
If you do not have a medical professional, please contact us at info@mealstoheal.ca
Additional information: there is no charge for our meals - however, based on feedback from our pilot program, we are going to be introducing a Pay What You Can model for this new program, for those who wish to contribute. There is no obligation to contribute, and your eligibility for the program will not be affected if you choose not to contribute. Please let us know on your application form if you are interested in contributing.
